GM Pledges to Promote Workplace Electric Vehicle Charging

chargingCharging at your workplace definitely makes driving electric easier. GM today announced collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy to join 12 other companies as founding partners in the DOE’s Workplace Charging Challenge.

The program’s goal is to increase the number of employers with workplace charging stations tenfold within five years. Behind this goal is the EV Everywhere Challenge, which focuses on the development, affordability, convenience and commercialization of plug-in electric vehicles to be on par with gasoline-powered vehicles. GM currently has 239 workplace charging stations in the U.S. for workers to plug in their vehicles.

Hey Grant,
Do you have any POCs or contact info at the DOE...this is perfect for my "round 2" justification of charging stations at a ...DoD installation...of all places. Thanks in advance!

GM doesn't even have chargers at all or even most of their GM dealerships. They need to get their own house in order and lead by example. Maroone Chevrolet (now Autonation Chevrolet) doesn't even have public charging stations at their dealership in Fort Lauderdale..
