If you are already going to spend 40k on a car.. part of that spend is to make a statement.. BMW, Lexus, etc are about making a statement..At that price point without a "normal gas version" to choose between, I dont think anyone will be trying to figure out dollars of gas vs cost difference. I really like the odds that a 40k car that makes the statement, "I am done supporting foreign countries/companies with my gas dollars" will be accepted and adopted by the market.

Hi, I am a journalist starting a new Web site for Michigan automotive enthusiasts, www.michiganwllz.com. I'd like to find out about resources I can use to explain to people how the Volt will work, such as graphics, photos of the technology. Of course, I would love the opportunity to get behind the wheel

I was excited about the volt, but I can't see a price tag of $40,000.00. Especially since the government is already figuring out ways to make the people pay for not using gas. They want to tax the number of miles we drive now. We are supose to spend that kind of money in hopes of saving a little, just to be screwed over again, and again. If they tax my miles, I will do nothing but go to work and the grocery store. No tourism, nothing. I hope the people are tired enough to stand together on this. Good luck on the Volt when the word gets out about the tax on mileage. The volt was a really good idea!
