Note: The 2012 Chevy Volt has an EPA-estimated 35 miles on a single charge; EPA-est. 94 MPGe [electric]; 35 city, 40 MPG hwy [gas]. Actual range varies with conditions. Quantities are limited.
I bought my volt in September of 2011.
My Volt was the first one bought in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
They ran a story in the local newspaper of the volt and some of the reasons why I purchased the Volt.
I have been going into Scott Chevrolet in Allentown for the last two years expressing my desire to purchase a volt.
Scott Chevrolet said they would put me first on their list to purchase the Volt.
I was able to order the volt in June of 2011 and waited patiently for it to arrive.
Scott Chevrolet had a demo model which I drove back in June which further excited me.
My wife's Judy's biggest concern was that there would be enough room to carry the stuff we usually take to Florida as we have a winter house in Florida.
We tested the Volt prior to leaving for Florida by adding the boxes for my office dog beds, cat beds and clothing.
The trip down to Florida was very comfortable and economical.
I just love my Volt it's fun to drive, very comfortable seats, most of my trips are electric only around town
I love the fact that I do not have to drive out to a gas station but can just plug it in my garage.
The only problem I have with the Volt is that my wife and I want to drive it at the same time.
I am saving approximately between two and $300 a month on fuel compared to my last vehicle.
I especially like not having to solely rely on foreign oil to drive.

It turned out my purchase was the first Volt sold by this dealership in Bend. I went away that day with my new car but no new job. I know, when people see my new purchase and understand the technology this machine possesses they will drain they're saving and buy one too!
I live 26 miles away from, in my opinion, the greatest ski resort called Mount Bachelor. My Volt in mountain mode flies up the mountain. I plug-in the cars portable 120 volt charger, while skiing. I like the ability of not having any range anxiety with it's 9.3 gallon gas tank.
My Prius was a great car. The new 2012 Toyota EV model looked promising. But after pricing both cars, there was little difference. Except I was able to buy the Volt in tax year 2011. With no withholding being taken from my unemployment insurance the $7500 tax credit gave me the ability to decide where those tax dollars would go. Back into the my country helping the American workers conquer the challenges of full employment.
I was willing to spend all my savings into an investment that cannot fail. Diving into a pool of hope, that will turn our country around. Thank You General Motors for taking this leadership role.
