2011 Chevy Volt Performance

Let me lay to rest once and for all the rumor that electric cars are as slow and tiny as golf carts and inferior in performance to gasoline vehicles with these short videos:

Not only is there more torque in an electric car, but battery power means a quieter, smoother ride. This means not only total Zen silence at stop lights, but a quick response as soon as the light turns green. The battery weight gives the Volt a low center of gravity, making it safer around the treacherous turns we get in the Southern California canyons.  A car running on electricity isn’t polluting at idle (when a gasoline car is at its most inefficient), and, when it’s powered from solar panels, an EV isn’t polluting at all.

Fossil fuels are so 20th century. Bring on the batteries.

Don’t take it from me, though. Watch this video to hear what other Volt drivers have to say.

Alexandra Paul is a longtime electric vehicle advocate, actress and former EV1 driver. She is working with Chevrolet to educate consumers about EVs and the Volt. Full disclosure, Chevrolet is paying her for her time, but her opinions will always be hers.
