Last night, Green Car Journal’s Green Car of the Year took center stage on the green carpet of Global Green USA’s 8th Annual Pre-Oscar Party – that’s a lot of green, even for a Sparty like me (the East Lansing kind)! It was great to share the excitement and see some of Hollywood's brightest stars, as well as some of California’s most visible environmental activists, embrace our Chevy Volt.
Sure, we had a Volt sit on the green carpet for all the celebrity posing and paparazzi photos, but the really cool thing this year was seeing our Volts shuttling (gas-free!) several celebrities to the party. Director James Cameron even stopped interviews on the green carpet to say that he wanted to take the Volt home ... and my favorite Baywatch actress and EV-advocate Alexandra Paul drove her own Volt to the party.
We also wove in a bit of education when students from the Environmental Charter High School were invited by Global Green to get a sneak preview of the products and news being made at the party, including Global Green’s new City Carbon Index. The students really enjoyed getting in and out of the Volt and seeing all the iPod-like gadgetry on the display screens. Who knows, maybe some of them might actually be able to drive electrically for the rest of their lives.![]()
During the party itself, we also had a little Tweet-off going on, where we asked attendees where they would take the Volt to stay green in LA. While we got some great Tweets about very green locations, we thought @CEOHabitatLA’s Tweet was the most fitting. Enjoy the ride, Erin! We’ll be in touch with you soon so you can build that green LEED home!
Thanks again to Global Green for hosting the party and working with us to show people how easy it is to live and drive green. Check out our video below to see what some of the celebs had to say about their all-electric drive to the pre-Oscar party!

I am very interested by this car, and I have a question please.
When the temperature is -25 degres (celcius) in the morning, is there any heater system that is able to increase the temperature to a confort zone?
If the answer is yes, what could be the approximate distance the car would do on batteries (at -25 degres)?
Thank's for your answer

The Volt has a heater, and also heated seats. You can also remotely tell your Volt to "precondition" itself and heat the cabin up in the morning before you leave for work. The range would depend on your speed/driving style, but I would expect about 25 miles.
