What is the mpg rating for the Chevy Volt AFTER you travel 40 miles on battery power?

also:

Once the battery power (after 40 miles) has been exhausted, does the gas powered generator charge the batteries while driving. In other words, if you were to drive 500 miles in one day, whould your batteries be SELF recharged upon arrival of destination?

Thanks,
Gary

Gery, in the past GM has stated the Volt charge rates would be 1.2 kW at 120V and 3.3 kW at 240 V. The wattages in your blog post are a little higher. Are the old wattages obsolete?
