MeetUp Stories 2 - Peter Fosso

PeterFosso

Peter Fosso is a successful Seattle-based entrepreneur who’s passionate about bringing people with big ideas together. He keeps ideas front-and-center both as founder and president of the Global Music Project, a nonprofit that works to inspire a better world through music, and as the organizer of Seattle Entrepreneurs, a Volt-sponsored Meetup group. Seattle is a hotbed for innovative, industry-leading companies, or as Peter puts it, a town with “the entrepreneurial spark.” Peter was inspired by Influential brands and bright minds in the area to take the reins of the Seattle Entrepreneurs group in 2002.

We had the chance to speak with Peter about his passion and the impact of the Chevy Volt sponsorship of Seattle Entrepreneurs. He was surprised Chevrolet would sponsor a Meetup group of only a couple thousand members. “I was very impressed by the grassroots level that Chevy got involved with the program – they seem to want to help the little guy,” he said. Chevy Volt’s support certainly helped; the group has seen a significant increase in attendees at its meet-ups since beginning the Volt sponsorship.

A couple times a month, Seattle Entrepreneurs meets to exchange ideas, share potential new business plans and listen to panels describe the challenges and opportunities in starting a company. The next Meetup session will focus on developing a mobile application, underscoring the importance of a mobile presence from fledgling startups to well-established companies.

A Return to New England

Clay

Following last year’s great response to the Chevrolet Volt in Boston and Providence, the Volt team decided to revisit the East Coast. It was a trip involving young professionals, some old friends at local dealerships and some companies situated in the area.

One of our visits included Clay Chevrolet in Norwood, Mass. There were several new staff members interested in the Volt. They didn’t hesitate to chat with us about the Volt and ask all kinds of great questions. Many found it interesting that, thanks to a slight change in battery chemistry, the 2013 Volt comes with a 9% increase in electric range.

Our team also stopped by Paul Masse Chevrolet in Providence last year, but returned to conduct a ride and drive for area customers and Chevy fans. One fan, named Bill, told me he was simply amazed. Through our entire drive he kept lighting up like a Christmas tree every time he discovered a new feature in the Volt. Following our great chat about the Volt, I left him in the hands of a salesperson, eager to bring home a Crystal Red Chevrolet Volt.

Anthony Curis: Cooking up Good Things on the Road

Food trucks are one of the hottest trends in urban revitalization efforts across the country. They increase pedestrian traffic and provide alternative dining options. Anthony Curis was a trailblazer in the food truck arena in the metro Detroit area, rolling out his El Guapo Grill operation about a year ago. He recognized a good idea when he saw it. When he heard about the Chevrolet Volt, he thought that sounded like a good idea, too.

Note: The 2012 Chevy Volt offers an EPA-estimated 35 miles on a full charge based on 94 MPGe [electric] and an additional 340 miles with a full tank based on 35 city, 40 MPG highway [gas]. Actual range varies with conditions.

Chevrolet Volt Tour Continues to Charge Across the United States

This blog is written by Hillary Ascroft for the 2012 Chevrolet Volt Marketing Tour.

hillaryvoltWe've been busy touring across the U.S. with the Volt Tour 2012. Thought it would be great to catch you up on what we have been up to these past few weeks!

We were in Chicago for two weeks and people continue to be impressed by the Volt. Our team had a great opportunity to teach a group of First Responders about the different safety features of the Volt. They got the chance to look under the hood, in the trunk and inside the vehicle. It was truly an entire vehicle inspection.

We then bounced back to San Francisco to have some fun with the folks at AT&T. They have a few Volts in their fleet and it was great to hear how much the people that drive them every day enjoy them!

Now we are back on the East Coast and just finished Boston. Record amounts of people came out to drive the Volt this past weekend and let me tell you what; they LOVE the new ‘Hold’ mode on the 2013. The fact that you can now choose whether to run on the battery or the generator is simply genius. I truly believe that people with long distance commutes are going to appreciate this more and more as time goes on.

This weekend we are going to be at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, N.Y. Friday from noon through 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. through 6 p.m. Make sure you stop by and see us. Take a test drive and receive a $10 AmEx gift card. We can’t wait to see you there!

Be sure to follow our journey on Twitter @HillarysVolt.

We introduced you to Bob Sutherland of the Cherry Republic last fall. He’s a big booster of the state of Michigan and he appreciates the Michigan-built Chevrolet Volt. When one of Bob’s favorite projects started a fundraising drive, he thought it would be perfect to partner with the Volt team and help an area that’s been named “The Most Beautiful Place in America. Check out the video to see how it all came together and how it turned out.
