More than 70 types of cars, trucks and crossovers from Chevrolet, Buick and GMC, along with competitive models from Acura, Ford, Honda, Lexus and Toyota will all be in the same location. You can take test-drives, compare vehicles, discover what features are most important to you and determine which vehicle fits your needs. You can also chat with members of our team who will be on hand to answer your questions.

If you come out, you'll also have a chance to test-drive the 2011 Chevrolet Volt.

Main Street in Motion starts this weekend at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, CA. The tour will be there from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST this Friday through Sunday. You can head over to MainStreetinMotion.com to sign up for your drive time and to get more information. Please note that all individuals who wish to drive in the event must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license.

The tour is planning to come to more than 20 other cities in 2011, so keep checking back as more dates are listed. Hope to see you there!

Meet Scott Herz: Volt Battery Test Engineer

Note: This originally appeared on the Faces of GM blog

Scott Herz is a test engineer working on the battery for the Chevrolet Volt. He spent more than two years in the lab running tests and checking the results, making sure the electric-powered car would live up to its promise. As regular production of the Volt is about to begin, Scott has seen tremendously positive reaction to the fruit of his labor.

The Volt was named MotorTrend Car Of The Year, Automobile magazine Automobile of the Year and Green Car of the Year. Scott says, “This is the moment that all of us on the Volt team (and at GM) have been waiting for. Internally, we’ve seen how much of a game changer this car really is; but to win these awards reassures us that others see it too.”

Celebrating the Volt’s Journey and Looking to the Future

Today was a big day at our Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant, or the home of the Chevrolet Volt as we like to call it. GM CEO Dan Akerson, Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, other state and local leaders, and members of the Volt team were on hand for a recognition event. Even Bob Lutz made a surprise appearance.

Chevrolet Volt Recognition Event - Watch Live

Tomorrow, Nov. 30, Chevrolet will recognize a promise made three years ago – to design, build and sell the world’s first electric vehicle with extended-range capability.

To commemorate this milestone, we'll host an event at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly facility – the home of the Chevrolet Volt.  The pre-show begins at 9:30 a.m. EST, and will be led by GM CEO Dan Akerson along with other key members of GM and Chevrolet leadership, including representatives from the Volt development team.

You are invited to watch the program live right here on Chevrolet Voltage.  The event can be viewed in the player below and the webcast will also be available for replay after the event has concluded.  We hope you can join us!

2011 Chevrolet Volt Receives New Fuel Economy Label From EPA

Volt_EPA_Label_BlogWhen the 2011 Volt begins arriving in Chevrolet showrooms over the next few weeks, it will have an all-new fuel economy label to go with its unique propulsion system.  With the ability to operate completely gasoline and emissions-free for 25-50 miles and then continue indefinitely with its range-extending engine, the Volt’s energy efficiency depends a lot on how you use it.

Because the Volt works like no other car before, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has consulted with General Motors to design a new label to help consumers understand what to expect when they drive the Volt.  Prior to the advent of plug-in cars like the Volt, calculating fuel economy was simply a matter of filling the tank with fuel, driving the vehicle and dividing the distance by the amount of fuel consumed.

Even though they have no tailpipe emissions, electric cars still use energy, so the MPG equivalent (MPGe) is determined by measuring electricity use and converting it based on the energy content in a gallon of gasoline.  This MPGe rating allows consumers to compare the Volt’s efficiency to other cars in its segment.

Classifying the Chevrolet Volt is difficult because it is a one of a kind car that uses two energy sources - either electricity from the grid or gasoline from the pump - to power the vehicle.  The mix depends on how far you drive and how often you charge the battery.  Based on EPA test procedures, Volt owners can expect full-performance battery electric vehicle travels of up to 35 miles with the extended range capability of up to 344 total miles.  With a full tank of gas and a fully charged battery, the Volt can travel an estimated 379 miles.  The EPA's label is an important tool to help consumers understand the unique fuel efficient benefits and capabilities of the Volt.  As an electric vehicle with extended range the Volt offers consumers the best of all worlds - the ability to operate as an electric vehicle with the freedom to travel long-distances whenever or wherever you want.

For more information, head over to the Fuel Economy section under the Voltage U tab. There you will find an FAQ, driving scenarios and an explanation of the EPA label for the Chevrolet Volt.

Chevrolet Volt Named Green Car of the Year by Green Car Journal

It has been a great week for the Chevrolet Volt. Earlier this week, the Volt was named Car of the Year by Motor Trend and Automobile of the Year by Automobile magazine (see Tony DiSalle's blog post here for more). Today, the Volt was also selected as Green Car of the Year by Green Car Journal at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Volt is the first electric vehicle to win the award.

You can check out our Posterous page for some photos and videos from today's press conference. In this video, Ron Cogan, the editor of Green Car Journal, explains why the Volt was selected as the winner. Thanks again to everyone for their congratulations and kind words this week.

Watch the Volt on the Craftsman Experience

Volt Unplugged is heading to Chicago this weekend for the final stop on the tour. Tomorrow night, tune in to the Craftsman Experience on Facebook to watch a live in-depth video tour of the Chevrolet Volt from Chicago from 8 – 8:45 pm ET.  The tour will be hosted by the Science Channel’s Mike Senese and will feature Valarie Boatman, Performance Integration Engineer for the Volt.

As part of the streaming video presentation, viewers will be able to post questions to Mike and Valarie that they will answer live. We hope you can join us.

Chevrolet Volt Takes Home Two Awards

Since we first revealed the concept version of the Chevrolet Volt on Jan. 7, 2007, we have been working around the clock to bring it to market. There have been many chapters in the Volt story: we've refined the design to make it more aerodynamic, developed a strong, long-lasting lithium-ion battery, driven nearly 1.5 million miles testing our pre-production vehicles, and retooled our Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant to build the production models. While we're still a few weeks away from our first customer delivery, today we'd like to take a moment to celebrate.
