The price is high....and it has been estimated to be around $40,000 BEFORE the government got involved! But it's new technology and the price will go way down as more are sold. How much will that BMW cost? And again, you say 40 miles is ridulous? Even if it were to get 200 miles, what happens if you want to go on a trip? Drive 200 miles (3.5 hours approx.), charge for 8 hours, drive 200 miles, charge 8 hours, and then drive 200 miles...what would be a about an 11 hour drive would take take 27 hours! The Volt is designed for real life, 40 miles on pure elecric is more than what 80% of people drive each day; and the gas generator extends that range so that you can drive on any extended trip with having to stop and charge. It wouldn't be practical to buy an electric vehicle that you can only use around town...and what if you get caught in a traffic jam? Call a tow truck to get you home?

This technology is worst i ever noticed until now. BMW have a far better car, tesla is a far far far better car , and many others as i already research. 40 miles ? Ridiculous . BMW will lauch his car in 2011 with more than 200 miles in autonomy with 175HP and 26 MKGF of torque, installed in a car already produced by a already paid plant, and of course a lower price tag.Chevrolet is repeating his mystakes that almost couse his failure, avoided by US Government benignity. Is that GM will never learn ? The price tag of VOLT will be astronomous in order to cover billions of tax payers dollars, because we have to remmember that GM´m money today was fed from the government.Sorry , but after bateries was depleted, you still running on gas , still polute the air, tio carry dead batteries. Volt will be the worst car on the road, ( speech from Testa president to Bob Lutz), in a meeting two months ago. Sorry, but GM is going wrong one more time.

Jon,this car has lots of potental with gas usage at the top of the list.I do not see any reference to price, with the ecomonic mess the country is in this will be a big consideration.Hearing you are targeting the young families is incourageing. Please give us an idea of the msrp or sticker price.Thank you: John Pierson
