If lithium were a rare and difficult element to acquire, I could understand the concern over this "lithium-ion" bubble. As it is not, the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries is a good solution for the time being. There are other technologies being explored at this time which will significantly improve on the capacities of the lithium-ion battery. One I am intrigued with will put out power for 25 years. It's still in the proof of concept stage but it's coming.
